Concepts[edit]

Virtualization is the distribution of the ressources of a physical system to different isolated environments. Terms used are hosts and guests. Hosts provide container for guests. A virtual machine is the combination of virtual hardwarea and the guest system.

An emulation is a emulation of the complete architecture including the processor. Disadvantage is the slow performance.

With a para virtualization different virtual machines share the common ressources of a host via a administration layer (hypervisor or virtual machine monitor).
